Combating Semantic Terrorism in the Digital Society: A Multi-Disciplinary Approach

Introduction:

Today’s digital society is constantly bombarded with viral loaded media that can induce negative emotions and impact our mental well-being.

This phenomenon is known as semantic terrorism and significantly threatens our collective health. In this chapter, we will explore how a multi-disciplinary approach can be used to combat semantic terrorism.

CBT Approach:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can help individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors that arise from exposure to loaded language.

By learning to recognize and challenge these negative beliefs, individuals can regain control over their thoughts and emotions and reduce the impact of semantic terrorism.

Mindfulness Approach:

Mindfulness is a technique that can help individuals become more aware of their thoughts and feelings and learn to observe them without judgment.

This can help individuals recognize and detach from negative emotions from exposure to viral-loaded media, reducing the impact of semantic terrorism on their mental health.

Lacanian Theory:

The Lacanian theory focuses on the importance of an individual’s sense of identity and order, or “nom du pere”.

Restoring an individual’s sense of order and identity can help combat semantic terrorism by providing a foundation for emotional and mental well-being.

Digital Peer Support:

Digital peer support involves using online platforms to provide emotional support, information, and resources to individuals impacted by semantic terrorism. This can create a supportive community that can aid in an individual’s recovery and provides a safe space for discussing their experiences..

Conclusion:

Combating semantic terrorism in the digital society requires a multi-disciplinary approach that draws from CBT, mindfulness, Lacanian theory, and digital peer support

By addressing the underlying psychological mechanisms that contribute to the impact of semantic terrorism,

we can help individuals regain control over their mental and emotional well-being and create a supportive community that promotes recovery and growth.
