I talked today to my nephew in Iran and asked him

why does he not write to me more often, he said that

connection to the internet is very slow.

I told my nephew that back in my days

we also had a very slow connection. ,

He can’t remember this

because he was young.

, Back in my days

we had only ADSL dialers

to connect to the internet.

It would take days and hours

for the website to load,

even with the most simple graphics yet

we managed to communication,

meaningful communication despite

the slow connection that we had.

We used to write E-mail to one another.

No tiktoks, no videos, not even pictures,

we would write long letters

to one another,

old-school long letters.

It doesn’t take a lot of data connectivity

for the messages to go through.

I think E-mails are also better for safety-

wise than using social media accounts

or instant messaging

. Let’s go back to old-school Pen Pals!
