התפרצות נגיף הקורונה באיראן בשנת 2020 נחשבת להתפרצות הקשה ביותר באיזור

מניין הקורבנות הגבוה ברפובליקה האיסלמית של איראן יכול להיות קשור לצעדים שנקט הממשל על מנת להתמודד עם התפרצות הנגיף. מונים מספר מחדלים לכאורה של הממשל בהתמודדות הנגיף, בהם הבחירה להמשיך את קיום הטיסות מאיראן לסין וחזרה גם כאשר מדינות אחרות ביטלו אותן.

הסיבה לעיכוב בנקיטת הצעדים החיוניים הייתה לכאורה חשש מפגיעה בכלכלה של הרפובליקה האיסלמית באיראן אך בדיעבד מספר הנדבקים הגבוה גרם נזק גדול יותר לכלכלה.

I have been collecting some reports about the death toll from coronavirus in the Islamic Republic of Iran and the criticism of the government’s inaction.

In Iran (Islamic Republic of),

from 3 January 2020 to  CET, 21 November 2022,

there have been 7,559,296 confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 144,626 deaths, reported to WHO.

As of 12 November 2022, a total of 154,693,602 vaccine doses have been administered.
